  • DPF 8000 ™ Ultra Tack

Industrial Grade Calendered Vinyl for Rigid Surfaces

DPF 8000 ™ Ultra Tack is a 3.5-Mil (90 micron) white satin high-strength PVC calendered vinyl with aggressive pressure-sensitive permanent adhesive. Designed to adhere to harsh surfaces, DPF 8000 Ultra Tack offers a special adhesive system designed to adhere to difficult substrates and low surface tack plastics, especially ABS plastics. DPF 8000 Ultra Tack is designed to meet the marking and specification requirements of the transportation, retail and automotive industries. Vinyl installs best on flat surfaces when treated and applied per Arlon recommendations. DPF 8000 Ultra Tack is rated for 7 year outdoor durability (unprinted). The durability of printed vinyl will depend on the ink system used.

    Preparation and Installation

    general

DPF 8000 ™ Ultra Tack owes its high bond strength to the smoothness of its adhesive. Compensation for high adhesion is a more visible shrinkage than normal. It is good practice not to leave the printer unattended while printing to avoid irreversible errors due to build-up of adhesive on the edges of the film over time. Click here to watch the WrapItRight video: Prevent Adhesive Build-up When Printing with Arlon DPF 8000 ™. When printing DPF 8000 ™ Ultra Tack with screen printing or digitally with solvent, both the vinyl and the adhesive will penetrate with the ink. If the printing solvents are not completely removed prior to installation, the resulting graphic will show shrinkage and high edge curl. When printing this product be careful to completely dry the graphics before laminating, coating or installing. Fire Test: E-84 & EN 13501-1: 2007 + A1: 2009 of Euro Class C, s1, d0.

    Cement, Masonry and Tile

The surface must be completely free of dust - high pressure washing with water is the easiest method. The surface should be sealed with a full coat of paint or cementitious sealer and allowed to dry. If the surface is not sealed, there should be no loose paint, sand, or chalk present.

Three benefits of sealing porous surfaces:

    • Moisture cannot pass to the adhesive surface from the wall matrix.
    • Dust, due to ablation, cannot develop under the vinyl.
    • Removal is much easier as the adhesive will remove more cleanly, and if any adhesive remains, the surface will be free of residue more easily.

The surface temperature must be more than 50 ° F. To ensure the best adhesion, the graphics will benefit from a final installation pass using a combination of a soft roller and a heat source. The film should be heated to a softening point. Wait until the vinyl is “tack free” and then roll the film tightly over the wall texture.

    Plastic

These surfaces have better adhesion with a slight roughness with sandpaper before installation or surface oxidation with flame. For many polyolefin surfaces, once the oily skin of the plastic is modified, the adhesion will improve dramatically.

The addition of heat during removal will help achieve a faster and cleaner removal. When possible, allow surface to reach 80 ° F / 27 ° C or higher before removing film. When ambient temperatures are not that hot use a very “soft” flame torch or heat gun to raise the temperature. Arlon recommends heating vinyl and adhesive above 100 ° F / 38 ° C.

Due to the porosity of certain types of plastics (ie PP, PE), gasoline from tanks can pass behind exposed plastics and interfere with the adhesive of the vinyl. We do not recommend labeling gasoline tanks or similar plastic surfaces that are exposed to gasoline vapors.

    Removal

Remove the vinyl in a smooth, continuous motion, at a low angle for faster separation. When necessary, employ two people to remove the vinyl; this makes the job much faster. With one person working on the warming unit versus the second person removing the material, the work proceeds at a uniform and constant rate. When using only one person, there will be constant interruptions, which can cause inconsistent heat.

    Graphics Recommendations

    • Temperature range 55 ° F (13 ° C) or higher. If the ambient temperature is less than 55 ° F (13 ° C), heat gun or torch should be used.
    • Film removal angle> 90 degrees from vertical wall.
    • Elimination rate: Slow (1 ”/ second) constant extraction of graphics towards the ground.

    Special Considerations

Due to the porous nature of all masonry and its general roughness, Arlon expects water, snow, or ice to seep between the film and the wall and collect on the top edges of the applied graphic. For this reason, a steel edge is not recommended in applications that have harsh surfaces. Rigorous surfaces may not carry standard warranties.

The standard warranty applies to vertical applications only. Vertical is defined as +/- 10 ° from vertical. Non-vertical applications are not guaranteed for this product.
